My 2014 Xmas Wish List

Uhhhhh...How things have changed! I never would have thought that I would be asking for a blender for Xmas.  I guess I really am growing up, after all.  But in my defense, with this health craze band wagon trending, who doesn't need a bad-A blender for protein shakes, fruit smoothies, and all sorts of concoctions?!?!
                                                                  I mean Look at It!
We were at Costco the other day and the demo guy had me sold...except for the $400 part.
                                               1.  Vitamix Blender in its latest edition, please :-)

I would upload a picture of my current brown boots, but I am too ashamed.  I have had the same brown boots for over 5 years and they look a hot mess.  I don't know how I haven't gotten rid of them yet...maybe it's because the brown boots that I want are too expensive?!?! I need these in my life right now! like yesterday! Jessica Simpson knows how to make a brown boot.

I have been on the hunt for a nice pair of leopard booties.  Man, they are hard to find!!!!

And how can I forget to ask for items to replenish my make-up collection.  A gift card to Sephora is always handy, but any of these items would complete me.  My beauty blender is now so used and I think it's time for a new one.  Make up brushes are so freaking pricey! why?! ugh! I desperately need a fan brush.  Oh Santa, make me a happy girl why don'tcha?!

Blondes have more fun.

Getting your hair done = exciting.  Paying to get your hair done = not so exciting.  I've had my hair lightened twice by a professional and I must say that I think I can do this myself.  But better.  I always go to my hair stylist asking for a specific thing and almost always come out unsatisfied.  Biggest pet peeve EVER.  I've always said if you want something done right then you gotta do it yourself.  That should be my motto. For this time, I wanted to go a little bit more blonder, if you know what I mean.  I really dig the ombre look but my hair is so dark that it takes a few sessions for me to get it as light as I want it.  I made a trip to Sally's
Beauty Supply and bought some bleach, toner, and developer.  Here is how it turned out and the description of what I did is below.

I ended up getting a couple of different toners and using them interchangeably.

I left the bleach on for a total of 25 minutes once the last foil was in.

This is what I had immediately after rinsing the toner off.

I think now I want to lighten my roots with a soft caramel color.  Stay tuned.

My Hollywood Vanity

This Hollywood Vanity is EVERYTHING!

My husband watched a few DIY hollywood vanity videos on YouTube and we decided to make a few customizations along the way and then we were ready to go.

We were super lucky that our friends gave us the black table so we didn't have to spend money on that.

We measured our wall and table and then got 4 2x4's and the desired size of plywood (ours was 48 in.) at Lowe's. Drilled them together to make a canvas like the one shown in the picture.

We got the vanity light set up at Lowe's.
We bought the daylight lightbulbs (40 W, 6000 K) at Walmart.  These light bulbs are great because they give natural daylight and they don't get hot.

We used an old bathroom mirror that my husband had and took it to a professional to get it cut to our desired size (23 x 34 in).  After getting all the materials, we drilled 1.5 in holes on each side for the vanity lights. We then painted our canvas glossy black.  Any paint of your choice will work for this step.

The electrical part is a little hard and I'd have to let him explain it.  You can also YouTube how to do it.  I really wanted to be able to turn it on with the remote control so we spent a little extra time researching how to do this electrical part. electrical part with remote instructions

Love this DIY project.  Love my vanity.

It's hard out here for an LDS chick ;-)

I am really bad at keeping up with this blog and only come here when I feel compelled to get something off my chest.  Many of my followers have probably noticed a big change in my wardrobe.  I wasn't always the most modestly dressed girl.  I have had a tremendous transformation in the way I dress and a big part of that is because of my religion.  I always thought it was going to be the biggest feat to be fashionable and modest. I thought the two were mutually exclusive but my Heavenly Father has made me even more fashionably savvy.  If anything, I think I am more fashionable now and enjoy wearing the pieces I buy.  I don't worry about being judged for not covering up certain parts of my body and I have more confidence in the way I present myself.  Not to mention it was a great excuse to start building a new wardrobe from scratch! If I buy a not so cheap dress, I can always justify it with my husband by saying "It's hard to find classy dresses! So when I find one I HAVE to have it". For those of you who know what I mean, it is hard out there for an LDS chick.  ;-)

Getting FIT

Ok peeps, many of my close friends and family have recently told me that I've lost a lot of weight.  A few years ago, this is exactly what I would have loved to hear.  But now, not so much.  Skinny is not attractive anymore and although I am not necessarily "skinny", I'm not exactly the fittest either.  Since I moved back home to Little Rock, I've kinda let go.  Working 40+ hours at Abercrombie & Fitch has made it so hard to put on a few extra pounds.  I don't have a gym membership and I barely make time to work out. So I've decided to get FIT.  I want a bigger butt, thicker legs, and a flatter tummy. Today was DAY 1 of Getting FIT and well...let's just say my butt suffered a little and not only because of the squats.  I think the 60g of protein went right through me.  My sister Elsie is doing this with me so I have a little bit of support! I will let you know how this works.  My goal is to be 110.  I am 107 right now.  I wanna gain three pounds, haha.
I heard somewhere that if I should take this right after I work out.  All I'm doing for my workouts is either an hour of zumba or 30 minutes of cardio (running).  I know it's not much, but with my schedule it's all I can afford to do.

My 2012 Xmas Wish List

Not that anyone I know reads my blog, but I decided I'd jot down a few things I'd like to receive for Xmas this year.   I'll probably end up getting these items for myself.

1. Urban Decay Naked Palette 2
2. MAC lipsticks in "Myth" and "Diva"

3. CHI hair dryer
4. Any of these gift sets from Bath and Body Works

Boy Meets Girl.

I want all of you to know that I am completely off the market!  The man of my dreams, Richard G. Lobo has found his princess in me :-)

Our Love Story
Richard and I met on Memorial Day (May 31, 2011) at On The Border, my workplace at the time.  I had just graduated from college and turned 22 exactly 15 days before I met him.  I was extremely single--aka, not exclusive with anyone ;-) I, unlike most of my friends, did not land a job right away nor did I continue to grad school.  I was waiting tables.  I decided to cover someone's shift that night.  A stupid Monday night..I had nothing better to do.  It was approximately 9:45 pm (closing time was 10pm) and IN walks a horde of 55 good-looking, attractive young men wearing horrendously bright orange shirts, some accompanied by their wives.  Yes, I was a little pissed that my off time would be delayed for just a little while longer, but secretly I didn't really mind waiting on this group--did I mention I was single? Just so you get an idea of the type of bros I was dealing with...watch this....My Richard is the sexy tan one.

I vividly remember going back into the kitchen  and boasting to my co-workers about how I was going to get somebody's digits that night. Cocky, I know. Well, I didn't.  They came, they ordered, checked out, tipped us fairly well, got to-go boxes, and were ready to leave in less than 35 minutes.  Realizing that no one seemed interested me (shocked, actually) I began to clean off tables and began to get excited about getting home to my nightly trash TV while eating lots and lots of candy.  Well, as I was delivering one last to-go lemonade when I hear  "Where's my lemonade?"
Not even paying attention to whose rude request that was, I said,
"Oh...who's your waitress? I'll grab you a lemonade".
The rude request came from Richard, who not only was wearing an orange shirt, but as if that wasn't enough to advertise Vivint, but also an orange hat too big for his head.  It covered almost half his face! All I remember seeing was that big-o- bright smile of his.  It was nice.  :-)
Turns out he didn't really want lemonade...that was his pick-up line.  How classy.  He started off by telling me how they were new around town and asking me if I knew anything fun to do in Little Rock.
"What are you guys doing here anyway?" I asked, curiously.

"Oh we are just doing some modeling for an agency"

" Must be a low class modeling agency" I rebutted.
BAM. Got him.  That line was all I needed to really get him hooked.  "Busting balls" I call it.  Guys love it.  Clearly.  His friends all recoiled in playful "oooo's" and "ouches" while I giggled at my own witty comeback.

It was all down hill from there.  He asked for my number.  He was cute.  I had nothing to lose.  He called, yes CALLED, a couple of days after and we hung out almost every day during his remaining stay in Little Rock (4 months).  We both knew, or at least I thought, that this was just a fling and the day would come when he would go back to Utah.  I don't quite remember how we decided we were going to give long-distance a shot, but it eventually turned into that and that turned into this and now we are engaged to be married.

The Proposal
Richard surprised me with a visit and proposal on November 9th, 2012.  I was under the impression that I was accompanying my best friend Sinehan to her mom's picnic at the Old Mill.  The rest you can watch for yourself :-)
